  • Capacity: 45,000 barrels per day (bpd)
  • Overview: ARL is one of the oldest and most reputable refineries in Pakistan. It produces a variety of refined petroleum products, including high-octane gasoline and diesel. The refinery has modernized its operations over the years to meet international environmental standards.

  • Capacity: 120,000 barrels per day (bpd)
  • Overview: Byco is Pakistan’s largest oil refinery in terms of refining capacity. It is strategically located in the coastal region of Balochistan and plays a significant role in providing petroleum products to both domestic markets and exports. Byco also produces petrochemical products like naphtha and fuel oil.

  • Overview: The Essar Oil Refinery is in the planning stages and aims to become a significant player in the Pakistani oil refining sector. Once operational, it will cater to the increasing fuel demand in Pakistan while also promoting export opportunities.
  • Products: Gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and other petroleum products.
  • Significance: Once operational, it is expected to bolster Pakistan’s refining capacity, reduce reliance on imports, and provide jobs in the region.

7. Moqi Refinery

  • Location: Karachi, Sindh
  • Established: 2006 (operating since)
  • Ownership: Part of Pak Arab Refinery (PARCO)
  • Capacity: 10,000 barrels per day (bpd)
  • Overview: Moqi Refinery is a relatively smaller facility compared to others in Pakistan but still plays an important role in refining oil products for the country’s needs.
  • Products: Gasoline, diesel, and kerosene.
