🔹 Problem:
Operators observe poor desulfurization performance and an increase in coke formation inside the reactor.
🔹 Possible Causes:
✔ Hydrogen Recycle Compressor Failure – Reduced flow of recycled hydrogen.
✔ Hydrogen Leaks – Loss of hydrogen due to leaks in piping or seals.
✔ Feed Contamination – Oxygenates or water in the feed reacting with hydrogen.
🔹 Troubleshooting & Solutions:
✅ Check Recycle Gas Compressor Performance – Measure compressor discharge pressure and flow.
✅ Inspect for Leaks – Use hydrogen detectors or soap-bubble tests on flanges and joints.
✅ Analyze Hydrogen Purity – Ensure H₂ is not diluted with nitrogen or other gases.
✅ Monitor Stripper Overhead System – Improper stripping can allow light hydrocarbons to dilute hydrogen.
